William James, Jr. (1882-1961), son of famous psychologist William James, was an American painter who worked as a painting critic for the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and as its director from 1930-1937. While at the Museum School, James met Mrs. Kathryn A. Hodgman of Kalamazoo, Michigan through Edward W. Forbes.
